THE FIELD OF FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSTICS INCLUDES PAIN AND FUNCTIONAL DIAGNOSTICS OF THE TEMPOROMANDIBULAR JOINTS AND MASTICATORY MUSCLES.

Craniomandibular dysfunction (CMD) or temporomandibular dysfunction (TMD) refers to functional limitations and/or painful malfunctions of the physiological chewing function caused by the complex interaction of the lower jaw (mandible) and skull (cranium), as well as the masticatory muscles and structures of the temporomandibular joints. These include pain in the masticatory muscles (e.g., pain in the cheek or temple region), restricted mouth opening, and malfunctions of the temporomandibular joints.

GENERAL CMD SCREENING

Early diagnosis of the function of the jaw joints, masticatory muscles, teeth, and periodontium can prevent permanent and irreversible damage to these structures. At the Dentalzentrum Pankow, every examination is based on an analysis of the jaw joints and masticatory muscles.

INDIVIDUAL CMD THERAPY

Teeth grinding or clenching can lead to incorrect loading of the masticatory system and manifests itself in severely worn teeth (attrition) or increased bone loss and loosening of teeth.

The functional rehabilitation of attrition or erosion dentition (severe wear of the teeth due to teeth grinding or acid erosion) must include the analysis and, if necessary, therapy of the craniomandibular structures. Our specialists diagnose malfunctions using manual or instrumental functional analysis and initiate specific treatment measures. This often involves a combination of specific splint therapy and physiotherapy. We have been working closely with specialized physiotherapy teams for many years, and you benefit from this external cooperation through quick appointment scheduling and targeted therapy measures.

At the Dentalzentrum Pankow, a screening of the jaw joints and masticatory muscles is performed before each therapy. If pathological findings are diagnosed, specific and in-depth diagnostics can be performed by our specialized teams.
